but by its citizens doing things

    STATE BALLOT
    General Election

The General Election is held nationally on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November.  In 2022, Maine voters will select their choice for Governor, Maine’s Representatives to Congress, members of the Maine Legislature, and certain county officers.

How to vote via absentee ballot

    Maine Political Parties

Maine currently has four qualified parties: Democratic, Green Independent, Libertarian and Republican that may participate in primary elections.  Although some unenrolled candidates choose to designate themselves as “Independent,” there is no “Independent” party in Maine.)

    Ranked-choice Voting
Ranked-choice voting will be used in the 2022 State Primary and General elections.
Visit Maine’s RCV Resources page for more information about ranked-choice voting, including Frequently Asked Questions and sample ballots.

To mark the ballot for your first-choice candidate – the person who you would most like to see win the office – fill in the oval next to their name in the “1st Choice” column.
If you wish to rank some or all of the remaining candidates in order of your preference, you may do so, or you can choose to vote for only your first choice.
To mark a candidate as your second choice, fill in the oval next to their name in the “2nd Choice” column, and so on.
