St. George holding annual town meeting May 11

    ST. GEORGE — Voters from the Town of St. George will cast ballots for the annual town meeting this month. The annual town meeting is set for Tuesday, May 11. 

    Town Meeting will be held outside in the Town Office parking lot under the tent at 6 p.m.

    In addition to seeking approval from voters related to municipal expenses and funding, key warrant articles include the following. Click here to view the complete town meeting warrant in its entirety. 

    Article 2: To see if the town will vote to charge interest on all delinquent taxes at the rate of 6% per annum, computed on a daily basis, and to establish two due dates for property taxes, with one-half of the tax amount due September 30, 2021 and one-half of the tax amount due March 31, 2022. 

    Article 3: To see if the town will vote to authorize the acceptance of prepayment of taxes not yet committed and pay no interest thereon, and to pay interest on all overpaid taxes at the rate of 5% per annum, computed on a daily basis, from the date of overpayment. Any overpayment of taxes from one year applied to the next year at the request of the taxpayer will be treated as prepayment of taxes not yet committed. 

    Article 20: To see if the town will vote to exceed the property tax levy limit established for the Town of St. George by State law, due to extraordinary circumstances outside the control of the municipal legislative body.
