MSAD 28/Five Town CSD Community Book Read Event

MSAD #28 AND FIVE TOWN CSD HOSTS COMMUNITY BOOK READ

If you wonder why you or your child struggles to stay focused, then MSAD #28 and Five Town CSD encourage you to read this riveting and revealing book and join us after for what will be a lively and informative discussion. MSAD #28 and Five Town CSD invite the community to join in their Community Book Read, “Stolen Focus: Why You Can’t Pay Attention – and How to Think Deeply Again” by Johann Hari. The Book Read will culminate in a group discussion on May 23, 2024, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the Camden Rockport Middle School Cafeteria.

Copies of “Stolen Focus” are available to borrow at Camden Public Library, Rockport Public Library, Hope Public Library, Appleton Public Library, Lincolnville Public Library, Camden-Rockport Elementary School, Camden-Rockport Middle School, and Camden Hills Regional High School.

Superintendent of Schools Maria Libby said, “This book explores the idea that our inability to focus today is not because we aren’t strong enough to put down our phones, but because our attention has been stolen by carefully crafted external forces intent on stealing it. This book will provide parents with important insights to help their children navigate today’s world in a healthier way. It offers a roadmap to regaining our focus, and I’m eager to hear the community’s thoughts about how we may incorporate some of these ideas to enhance learning in our schools.”

The school boards are excited to be bringing back these book read events that offer a great way to learn and grow together on behalf of our youth.
