ROCKLAND — Two free screenings of Childhood 2.0 (2020), a documentary that delves into the dangers children face as they use social media, will be co-presented by RSU 13 and the Strand Theatre.

The Strand event takes place on Sunday, April 28, at 3 p.m.; pizza will be provided, followed by the screening at about 3:15 p.m.

On Wednesday, May 8, Oceanside Middle School will host the event; dinner will be provided at 5:30 p.m, followed by the movie at 6 p.m. A community conversation will follow each screening. Childcare will be provided at each event; those who wish to secure childcare should register in advance. The screenings, dinners and childcare are all presented free of charge.

Viewing of Childhood 2.0 is highly recommended for anyone who wants to better understand the world their children are navigating as they grow up in the digital age, said a news release from the Strand.

“Featuring actual parents and children, as well as industry-leading experts in child safety and development, the documentary dives into the real-life issues facing kids today — including cyberbullying, online predators, suicidal ideation, and more,” the release said.

Running time is 1 hour, 28 minutes.

Registration is encouraged, but not required unless childcare is needed. Register on the Strand Theatre website at  rocklandstrand.com. For more information or questions, visit the website or email Ryan at ryan@rocklandstrand.com. The Strand Theatre is located at 345 Main St., Rockland.
